SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd and global technology services firm Proserv are joining forces to provide enhanced technology services offerings to clients in Asia Pacific.

SapuraKencana said its wholly-owned subsidiary, SapuraKencana Technology Sdn Bhd (SK Tech), and Proserv will jointly offer a range of services across drilling, production, maintenance and decommissioning market sectors with a strong focus on subsea production and subsea maintenance services.

The two groups, it said, will leverage on mutual strength — Proserv's suite of advanced subsea production equipment and controls and SK Tech's technical support, resources and assets.

"The partnership with Proserv allows our group to strengthen the diversity of its range of services to clients, especially in operations and maintenance services," said SapuraKencana senior vice president of business acquisition Vivek Arora in a statement today.

"We can now provide clients with more technical expertise and resources to support a range of subsea projects, in particular facility optimisation, to extend lifespan of fields, services and support," said Arora.

He added that the partnership will help clients to find smarter ways to navigate through the current changing oil and gas global environment with solutions to improve efficiency and asset obsolescence management.

Proserv chief executive officer David Lamont described SapuraKencana as a well-respected company, adding that Proserv's special capabilities complement SapuraKencana's diverse range of services.

This, he added, allows Proserv to further enhance its offerings to clients particularly in the subsea services sector while continuing to grow its presence in Malaysia and throughout Asia Pacific region.

SapuraKencana shares were down 1.74% or 3 sen at RM1.69 at 4.30pm, with 8.4 million shares changing hands, giving it a market capitalisation of RM10.1 billion.
